What we do
Scientific basis
We build our products and services on the results of scientific research, especially in the psychological and neuroscientific fields.
Aging brains
In most parts of the world, including Italy, the population is gradually aging, also due to an increase in life expectancy: on average, therefore, people are living longer. While the effects of aging on the body are obvious and well known, less attention is generally paid to so-called cognitive aging, i.e. the impact that the passage of years has (even in the absence of pathological situations, such as dementia or other diseases) on the brain.
Mind exercises
Physiologically, in fact, certain faculties (or cognitive functions) such as memory, attention span, planning and language capacity, may suffer a progressive loss. However, the decline in cognitive functions related to aging can be countered by specific training: this opportunity is linked to so-called neuroplasticity, the brain’s incredible ability to shape specific areas and related functions by training them, just as is done for muscles and joints with physical activity.
Not only brain training
Training of cognitive functions cannot be the same for everyone, but must be calibrated to the individual person. This is where the concept of cognitive reserve comes into play: a set of capacities, strategies and skills created and accumulated throughout life, which makes it possible to compensate for and counteract the damage caused by aging.
Moreover, more and more studies have shown that cognitive training alone is not sufficient to promote optimal aging. It should in fact be joined by three others pillars which form, together with cognitive exercise, the basis for a young and active brain: anutrition that is attentive and balanced to the typical needs of the elderly, moderate physical activity that keeps body and brain in motionand – above all – maintaining good levels of sociality.
Our products
Our products, based on the results of neuroscientific and psychological research, make it possible to measure, monitor and train cognitive functions… but there is more.
OPTIMENS PLATFORM
A digital guide to keep the brain young
Discover more
It is a practical guide to keeping your brain young, a digital platform that allows to:
- By means of a questionnaire, the specific needs of the individual user with respect to the four pillars for optimal ageing (cognitive training, nutrition, exercise and sociability) and by means of a short test the status of the main cognitive functions are recorded
- Guiding towards solutions that are more useful to the person, composing a customised plan, with activities – online and on-life – that aim to improve the status of one or more pillars;
- Tracking and supporting user progress, thus giving value to choices that improve brain health
The Optimens platform is addressed both to individuals who want to stay active, improving their lifestyle and quality of life through innovative solutions, and to family members and/or caregivers who want to take care of their loved ones, promoting optimal ageing.
CALLIOPE
Monitor and train cognitive functions by telephone.
Discover more
It is the first telephone service for monitoring and training the brain in old age. During the tests and customised training courses, users are accompanied by a qualified operator: in this way, the exercises are provided even in the case of users with little or no digitalisation, and at the same time without neglecting the element of sociability and interpersonal relationships. Calliope can be used in the context of already active telecare services, and is therefore particularly suitable for companies/institutions for a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) delivery.

Our projects
We have already implemented several projects, especially in the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region. Sometimes, these projects were useful for building and refining our products, or they were an opportunity to get in touch with realities that later became our valuable partners.
